Make Your Own Roadside Emergency Kit

A post shared by Ford Motor Company (@ford) on

Sometimes a vehicle breakdown is inevitable. Sometimes it happens to even the most pristine cars (dead batteries and nails in the road don't discriminate).

So, how do you deal with it?

Subscribing to roadside assistance is certainly one way, but there might be times when you could get going again on your own if you only had the proper tools...

It's in these moments that a roadside emergency kit comes in handy. You can choose to buy pre-assembled kits, but you can also find the right items and create one for yourself.

Here are some of the items you should keep in your kit:

  • Battery-powered beacons or reflective road triangles
  • Foam tire sealant
  • Jumper cables
  • Duct tape
  • Headlamp or waterproof flashlight

With a fully-charged cell phone and the right tools, you can remedy car problems yourself or create a safe environment in which you can wait for help to come.

Make sure to bring your vehicle to our service center in El Paso, TX for a safety checkup before going on a long trip!
